Katie Melua - Piece by Piece

Katie Melua's second album has been released, "Piece by Piece" the much awaited album after the multi-million selling "Call of the search", at a first glance it doesn't have the surprising effect the first one had, so we get a feeling of more of the same. But don't get me wrong, this album is a must hear, Katie has a tremendous voice, with her fragile looks that make us think that she will not gona make it. Bluesy, jazzy, but not as strong as the first album, in my personnal opinion Mike Batt (producer, arranger, watever) doesn't have the genious for it.

After reading some reviews, from the both sides of the spectre: "...it really should be illegal for anyone to even think of covering "Blues in the night"..." (Trevor Lord, BBC), of course trashed by some hard core fans.

I for once woulnd't bother to fall asleep with Katie singing at my ear "Just Like Heaven", The Cure cover, with her sweet, sexy, angelic voice. But, Hey, I'm a guy, and dammit, she's only 20 ;)

Dig it on your local cd store and enjoy it.
